Case Study: Helped Local Business Move New Product Offering from Concept to Reality

A manufacturer of residential and commercial building products was in need of a new product offering.

In search of a turn-key solution, they turned to Kimray Manufacturing Services for help with the development and machining of the new design.

Problem

The problem was they lacked the capability to manufacture this part.

To economically manufacture this part, a bar-fed twin spindle lathe was the optimal choice.

Solution

The customer connected with Kimray Manufacturing and sent their print to our engineering team to see if we would be a good fit for this project.

After reviewing the print, Kimray engineers made some suggestions over feature tolerancing in respect to the application the part was designed for. The customer agreed that the tolerances could be relaxed, which resulted in a more cost-effective part.

Requirements for the Product

  • Material: 6061-T6 Aluminum
  • Process Needed: Turning on a lathe to completed component
  • Turnkey solution with materials and processes all-inclusive within the quote

Machines We Used

  • Dual Spindle Lathes

Result

Kimray Manufacturing Services made 1000 pieces and shipped them to the manufacturer.

The parts met specification, and the customer benefited by both receiving parts that met their need and sourcing the work locally.
